The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has signed a multi-year deal with MLB.
Canada.- The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLGC) has signed a multi-year agreement with Major League Baseball (MLB). OLG’s Proline sportsbook will become an official MLB betting partner.
The deal marks MLB’s first sports betting partnership in the Canadian province of Ontario. It gives OLG distribution rights to MLB official branding, including distribution rights to official logos and cross-promotion in digital and social channels.
The Proline+ digital platform will offer baseball content, such as free-to-play games introduced throughout the season.
Kenny Gersh, MLB executive vice president of business development, said: “As we continue exploring additional avenues to engage our fans around the world through sports betting, we need to find creative, knowledgeable partners in their respective regions. With OLG, we have a trusted partner in Ontario with a vision to help us grow.”
OLG chief digital and strategy officer, Dave Pridmore, added: “Teaming up with a world-class organisation like the MLB enables OLG to create exciting, one-of-a-kind interactive experiences for baseball fans at the game and on PROLINE+.”
Proline+, launched in August 2021, was Ontario’s first legal sportsbook property. It offers betting on American sports leagues, as well as college football teams and European sports. It provides retail betting through nearly 10,000 lottery outlets in Ontario.
In March, the National Hockey League (NHL) announced a multi-year deal with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), becoming an official partner for the Proline+ igaming and digital sports betting platform. The agreement, which is the NHL’s first sports betting partnership in Canada, provides OLG with distribution rights to the league’s official logos and cross-promotion on the league’s digital and social media.
The OLG also signed a five-year deal to become the first official sportsbook partner of the NFL in Ontario and Canada. OLG.ca and NFL’s digital platforms broadcast exclusive football content.
