Finnish gaming monopoly expands board

The Finnish gaming monopoly Veikkaus has bolstered its supervisory board and appointed 13 new members to improve responsible gambling measures.

Finland.- In order to improve responsible gambling measures, the Finnish gaming monopoly Veikkaus expanded its supervisory board. The monopoly just announced the appointment of 13 new members.

The supervisory board oversees corporate governance and responsible gambling. Furthermore, it coordinates stakeholder engagement efforts. 

Chair Jukka Gustafsson and vice chair Jani Mäkelä will lead the board. Moreover, the authorities appointed parliamentarians and Finnish Olympic Committee’s Ilmari Nalbantogl.

Other measures

The Finnish gaming monopoly recently revealed that it has the intention to remove approximately 3,000 slot machines. This comes after local politicians urged tougher restrictions in the territory.

The company said that it plans to decrease the number of slot machines located in shops and kiosks by 3,000 units, Yle reported. By 2022, gamblers will have to identify themselves to log on to play any of the remaining slot machines in those locations. Currently, Veikkaus operates 21,500 slot machines in the country.

Veikkaus appoints new CFO

Veikkaus has announced that Regina Sippel started last week her new role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company. Sippel is also now a member of the Executive Team of the Finnish gambling monopoly Veikkaus.

The new CFO will take over the management of Veikkaus’ Finance, Planning, and Services function. She will leave her previous position as Group CFO of Thomas Cook Northern Europe.
