Veikkaus vows to remove slot machines
The gambling monopoly from Finland, Veikkaus, has reported that in order to help with problem gambling the company will cut the number of slot machines.
Finland.- Veikkaus, the state-owned gambling monopoly from Finland, has revealed that it has the intention to remove approximately 3,000 slot machines. This comes after local politicians urged tougher restrictions in the territory.
The company said that it plans to decrease the number of slot machines located in shops and kiosks by 3,000 units, Yle reported. By 2022, gamblers will have to identify themselves to log on to play any of the remaining slot machines in those locations. Currently, Veikkaus operates 21,500 slot machines in the country.
Moreover, Veikkaus revealed that it will reduce its marketing campaigns in order to counter-attack problem gambling. The company also said that digital games will only have a place on digital channels in the near future.
Veikkaus appoints new CFO
Veikkaus has announced that Regina Sippel started last week her new role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company. Sippel is also now a member of the Executive Team of the Finnish gambling monopoly Veikkaus.
The new CFO will take over the management of Veikkaus’ Finance, Planning, and Services function. She will leave her previous position as Group CFO of Thomas Cook Northern Europe.
Veikkaus said that the organisational structure will be revised in the upcoming days and the responsibilities of the Executive Team members will be defined accordingly. Pekka Ilmivalta will continue as SVP, Legal Affairs and CSR; Ari Aarnihuhta as SVP, CIO, in charge of ICT function. SVP, Channels and Sales Jari Heino will be taking over retail sales, in addition to Points of Sales and Services.
