Wakayama creates IR assessment team

The Prefectural Government has formed an eight-member team to work on a project to bring integrated resorts to the area.

Japan.- Wakayama continues to develop as a top candidate to host integrated resorts in Japan, especially after the government decided to create a group to assess the best way to do so. An eight-person taskforce has been designated to develop the best plan to bring integrated resorts to the Prefecture as Japan continues to get closer to establishing its own casino industry.

According to a recent statement by Governor Yoshinobu Nisaka, more staff members may soon be added to the team from next April 1. Furthermore, he explained that the new team will be provided with its own room to work from as he’s very interested in winning an IR bid, even as analysts are doubtful on the Prefecture’s chances.

After passing the necessary legislation, Japan has now to determine where it will develop the casino industry in the country. That’s why Wakayama has conducted a request for information (RFI) process that has just ended and had 33 companies submitting plans before the end of August. After all the necessary data has been compiled, a report will be elaborated and submitted to the government.
