UK MPs to force Theresa May to rush FOBTs stake cap

In order to hurry the Prime Minister and get her to enforce the maximum stake on FOBTs, 74 MPs signed amendments in the UK.

UK.- A major reduction over the fixed odds betting terminals (FOBTs) maximum stakes was approved recently in the UK but hasn’t been enforced yet. That’s why 74 members of the Parliament from both sides of the Commons have signed amendments to force Prime Minister Theresa May to hurry the maximum stakes reduction.

The delay has been branded as “unjustified” by several politicians and has even generated a potential rebellion against PM Theresa May. Furthermore, Sports Minister Tracey Crouch resigned and generated controversy in the UK.

Former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith, leading Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg, former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and ex-Brexit Secretary David Davis are set to support bringing forward the reduction to April 2019, after Chancellor Philip Hammond introduced a delay until October through budget’s presentation.

“We’re going to be tabling a new clause and amendment to the Finance Bill and force the Government into doing the right thing,” Labour MP Carolyn Harris told the BBC and added: “There’s a huge feeling in the House that this is the wrong decision and we need to implement it as a matter of urgency.”
