Rhode Island worried over casino staffing
The Senate President said that there aren’t enough staff to take sports bets and said that the state could lose revenue.
US.- Rhode Island debuted its sports market in November, and Senate President Dominick Ruggerio has been very vocal about the benefits that it could bring to the state. Now, he believes that there is a shortage in casino staffing, and that it could affect revenue from sports betting.
Twin River Casino launched operations at its Tiverton and Lincoln locations, and the Democratic Senate President said that people could not get to the front of the line in Lincoln to place bets before the earliest games during the past weekend, and that it’s something that it has already happened before.
While he believes that more casino staff are needed to take sports bets, Twin River spokesman Patti Doyle said that this is only the first phase of their operations and that they’re planning to open a sportsbook lounge with additional terminals and self-service kiosks .
