Presque Isle launches sports betting
The Pennsylvanian Presque Isle Downs & Casino officially launched its sports betting operations on Thursday afternoon.
US.- Erie has become the latest town in Pennsylvania to offer sports betting services to players. The Presque Isle Downs and Casino kicked off its operations on Thursday afternoon by hosting a grand opening of its sportsbook.
The casino celebrated the grand opening of the BetAmerica Sportsbook with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday afternoon. The event featured the presence of former National Football League (NFL) players from the Browns and Steelers team.
The sportsbook, which features 50 brand new kiosks at the casino, is kicking off its operations just in time for the start of the NFL preseason. Football is likely to be one of the biggest revenue generators for the sports betting industry this upcoming season.
Presque Isle Downs, acquired by Churchill Downs earlier this year
Churchill Downs completed the purchase of Presque Isle Downs back in January. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) had unanimously approved the US$178.9 million acquisition.
The racetrack and casino had been held by Eldorado Resorts since 2014, after a merger between the company and MTR Gaming. The change of control closed in 2018 for US$178.9 million. The facility features 1,600 slots, 32 table games and a poker room, as well as live thoroughbred racing.
