Point Place Casino gears up for opening
Oneida Nation’s Point Place Casino has an opening date.
US.- Next March 1, the New York State native tribe Oneida Nation is opening its Point Place Casino in Bridgeport in Madison County, as representatives of the group revealed yesterday afternoon. The construction work has started last July and has reportedly to go “strong,” to keep the commitment of opening by Spring 2018.
The Bridgeport venue will be built on route 31, will be about 65 thousand square feet and its projected to feature about 500 slot machines and 20 table games. It will also offer two fast service restaurants, Wicked Good Pizza and Burgers of Madison County, a chocolatier Opals Confectionary and two bars. As Rome Sentinel revealed, the construction follows a project labor agreement between the state and Central New York trade unions, as they created 250 construction jobs on site over the course of the project.
Furthermore, the project created an estimated 250 trade union jobs and is set to open, over 200 residents will also be permanently employed. Last year, the Oneida Indian Nation revealed that even if they’re pursuing the Bridgeport casino, they still keep their intentions in Utica. “The Bridgeport project does not impact the potential partnership with Oneida County around a downtown Utica casino at all,” said Joel Barkin, spokesman for the tribe earlier this year.
