Ottawa casino to increase table games
The Hard Rock rocksino won the approval from the city council to increase its table games offering.
Canada.- Hard Rock Casino Ottawa won its bid to add 14 more table tables beyond the maximum that was imposed by the city council at the Albion Road facility. The decision was made on Wednesday by a committee of adjustment panel.
After the panel heard Hard Rock’s arguments and a few of its delegates, it decided to approve the gambling expansion. Hard Rock will now operate 35 table games, such as blackjack and roulette, in addition to its 1250 slot machines offered at the former Rideau Carleton Raceway. The city council had imposed a limit of 21 table games in 2011, before the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. decided to search for another company to operate the facility.
Hard Rock Ottawa proposed a US$320 million expansion, but the project still needs to be supervised by a committee. Rick O’Connor, city’s solicitor, said in a memo to council last week that Hard Rock Casinos Ottawa’s proposal at the Rideau Carleton Raceway falls within what a minor committee can handle and that they can’t just move it to a larger hearing.
