New York sports betting revenue drops 41 pct
During November, the four licensed sportsbooks in New York generated US$1.3 million sports betting revenue, the lowest ever so far.
US.- Even as the segment continues to grow across the US, the boom seems to have already passed for some states. For that matter, New York sports betting barely raked US$1.3 million in revenue in November.
The state’s figures represent a 40.9% decline month-on-month and are the lowest so far. In October, the four licensed sportsbooks had generated US$2.2 million and a record US$2.3 million in September.
New York launched the segment on July 16, 2019. Since then, it has generated US$6 million collectively.
The tribes
As the segment thrives, everybody wants to launch sports wagering services in the US. That’s why the Seneca Nation of Indians announced it may soon offer sports betting in its western New York casinos.
The tribe would launch operations in lounges in Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Salamanca before 2020. That would let gamblers place their bets for a potential Buffalo Bills (NFL) playoff run.
“We know Buffalo is a sports town,” Seneca Gaming CEO Holly Gagnon told Buffalo Business First. “And, we know it is a very passionate sports town. That’s why we are bringing the (sports betting) lounges to the (New York) casinos.”
