Tribal casinos to offer sports betting in New York
The Seneca Nation of Indians advanced they will launch sports betting in their three western New York casinos before 2019 comes to an end.
US.- As the segment thrives, everybody wants to launch sports wagering services in the US. That’s why the Seneca Nation of Indians announced it may soon offer sports betting in its western New York casinos.
The tribe would launch operations in lounges in Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Salamanca before 2020. That would let gamblers place their bets for a potential Buffalo Bills (NFL) playoff run.
“We know Buffalo is a sports town,” Seneca Gaming CEO Holly Gagnon told Buffalo Business First. “And, we know it is a very passionate sports town. That’s why we are bringing the (sports betting) lounges to the (New York) casinos.”
New York October figures
The sports betting industry in the US has been in constant growth since May 2018, when the segment was legalised on a federal level. While multiple states are still deciding their regulations, others like New York are already operating. The Empire State kicked its operations in July, but during October it experienced a 4.4% revenue decline.
The New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) has revealed that the sportsbooks in the state generated US$2.2 million in October. This figure represents a 4.4% decline when compared to the US$2.3 million that the sportsbooks generated in September.
The sports betting market launched in New York in July, and since then the sportsbooks have generated a combined total of US$5.7 million. It’s unclear how much sports betting handle the state has registered since July, as the NYSGC doesn’t report those figures.
