New tribal gaming brand to run Nebraska racecourse casinos

WarHorse will be the brand name for the new casinos in Horsemen’s Park, Lincoln Race Course and Atokad in South Sioux City.

US.- The Winnebago Tribe’s casino operating company Ho-Chunk Inc has formed a new division, WarHorse Gaming LLC, to manage and operate casino gaming at horseracing tracks in Nebraska.

WarHorse will work in partnership with the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association to develop casinos at three existing racecourses.

The new casinos at Horsemen’s Park in Omaha, Lincoln Race Course and Atokad in South Sioux City will carry the WarHorse brand name.

WarHorse will be responsible for casino gaming operations at the three properties while the Nebraska HBPA remains in charge of horseracing operations.

Executive director for WarHorse Gaming, Brian Chamberlain, said in a statement: “We’re excited to bring a new industry to Nebraska, and in turn, serve Ho-Chunk, Inc.’s mission of creating jobs and economic opportunity for Tribal members.”

The move comes after nearly 65 per cent of Nebraska citizens voted in favour of a gambling expansion on the November 3 ballot to allow table games and slot machines at racetracks.

Since the vote, officials in neighbouring Iowa have raised concerns over the potential impact on revenue when Nebraska opens casinos-style gambling.
