New Hampshire lawmakers optimistic about sports betting
Proposed legislation boosters think that Governor Chris Sununu’s support for the bill is a good sign that it will succeed.
US.- New Hampshire legislators believe that sports betting has a good chance to be legalised. According to proponents of the bill pushing its regulation, Governor Chris Sununu’s support gives the motion a boost.
“We’re not creating a new industry here, we’re just brining an illicit industry into a legalized industry,” Rep. Timothy Lang told the Concord Monitor. “If the bill passes, they’ll seek town approval to offer sports betting there. That’d be the kind of place you can go to sit and watch a game and place a bet,” he added.
Lang is a proponent for the sports betting bill that would send 10% of revenue to fund gambling addiction services, while most of it would go to the state’s education trust fund, with an estimated US$7.5 billion revenue going for education in fiscal year 2021, and US$13.5 million two years later.
The bill would include both professional and collegiate sports and would regulate both mobile and retail businesses.
