Nebraska advances with casino and sports betting rules
Lawmakers are debating regulations for the industry after Nebraska voted to legalise casinos in November.
US.- The state of Nebraska has advanced further with casino and sports betting rules, with a bill passing its first vote by 37 votes to 5.
The bill would create regulations for casinos in Nebraska. Some of its rules include a prohibition on bettors using credit cards to play keno, while bars that offer the game could issue electronic tickets instead of paper tickets.
The bill also states that sports betting is allowed in casinos, an issue that drew criticism from some lawmakers opposed to gambling.
The bill’s sponsor, Senator Tom Briese said he personally opposed casino gambling but that lawmakers received a clear mandate from voters on the November ballot.
Nebraska lawmakers began debating regulation and the use of gaming revenues in February.
