Mississippi casinos break revenue record
Casinos located in Mississippi’s Gulf Coast hit an all-time high of US$108 million in April.
US.- The Mississippi Department of Revenue reported that revenue at the casinos in South Mississippi hit an all-time high last month, as they totalled US$108.6 million. This number represents a nine per cent increase when compared to the US$99.2 million registered in April 2017.
April’s gross casino revenue at the 12 facilities was an all-time high, as it is US$1.4 million higher than the US$107.2 million in April 2007, when there was a big number of people that went to the Coast of Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina.
With last month’s results, Coast casinos collected US$407 million year-to-date, higher than the US$404 million registered during the same period last year. These numbers are impressive considering that the state hasn’t seen the opening of the new casino at Island View yet, and that they will be able to offer sports betting if the state adapts new regulations soon.
On the other hand, river casinos saw their revenue fall 0.9 per cent in April to US$74.8 million from the US$75.5 million in 2017. Total casino revenue increased by 5 per cent to US$184 million, approximately US$11 million more than April 2017.
