Michigan tribes support sports betting
As legislation continues to be under review, leaders of the Michigan Tribes have voiced their support for the sports betting segment in the state.
US.- The gaming industry continues to evolve in the US and legislation tries to keep up to date. That’s why Michigan is considering how to regulate sports betting, which just got some major support.
According to local media, leaders of Michigan’s Indian tribes are on board with the legislation proposed in the State House. Representatives have already approved the bill, which a Senate committee will discuss next.
Should Michigan tribes get left out of the sports betting segment, revenue issues lie ahead. Experts say it would create a state revenue hole, but not if they support the vertical, as they do.
Michigan pushes for Daily Fantasy Sports Betting
The online gaming industry may take one huge step in a Northern state of the US. Lawmakers in Michigan are pushing bills to legalise DFS (daily fantasy sports) as a game of skill, rather than gambling.
The bipartisan bills cleared a Senate committee and would pave the way for the segment as a game of skill. However, Michigan would require popular DFS operators to get a licence to run cash leagues.
“Really this is free-market legislation that protects citizens but lets the business of fantasy sports keep going here in Michigan,” said Sen. Curtis Hertel. “We shouldn’t be penalising people for basic entertainment. Really this is just another way to enjoy sports and the way we watch.”
