MGM pushes to develop a resort in Canada
Industry giant MGM Resorts wants to land in Canada with a €3.4 billion casino resort and residential complex in downtown Calgary.
Canada.- MGM Resorts continues to expand worldwide and Canada may be its next destination. The entertainment company is pushing to develop a €3.4 billion casino resort and residential complex in downtown Calgary.
The project includes 3.2 million-square-feet of floor area, which will contain 1,450 hotel guest rooms and 60k-square-feet of amenities. Also a 120k square-feet casino with 2k slot machines and 300 table games, a theatre and a 150k square-feet of meeting and convention space. Furthermore, 400k square feet of mid-to-high end retail within an indoor shopping mall, and 22 restaurants, in addition to about 4,5k vehicle parking stalls.
“Our vision for MGM Grand Calgary is to create a world-class entertainment destination,” said MGM Resorts International Chairman Christoph Kerkert. He also said the venue would be “unique to not only Calgary but Canada.”

Construction work would begin in 2023, and the scheduled date for opening is 2026-2027. Residential towers would be part of a second phase, to be built by 2029.
