Massachusetts casino project gets a reboot

A potential casino on the South Coast, which seemed to have been discarded, has been resurrected by state regulators.

US.- Massachusetts gaming regulators will conduct a process to receive comments and concerns about a casino project on the South Coast. The venue-to-be didn’t receive the necessary interest when it was originally proposed, but the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has rebooted the plans to develop it.

The MGC will solicit comments and concers through e-mail and regular mail until November 30, for which it has drafted twelve questions to be answered on the topic. The decision was made last week during a regulator’s meeting, in which re-opening Region C of the South Coast to a bidding process was approved.

The three gambling licences in the state involve a slots parlor and two resort casinos, one in Boston and the other in Springfield. A third casino licence was set to be issued to develop the casino in the southeastern region of the state but the proposal failed to make progress after plans and funding for several proposals in local communities never properly materialised, including a waterfront casino in New Bedford and a casino on the Brockton Fairgrounds. However, the MGC has decided to reboot the process and is determined to get a venue developed in the area.
