Mardi Gras Casino gets new ownership
The sale of the West Virginia facility has officially been completed and it’s now operating under the management of Delaware North.
US.- Mardi Gras Casino & Resort, located in Cross Lanes, West Virginia, has been officially sold to Delaware North, a New York’s gaming company that owns and operates several casinos and gaming venues throughout the United States. The announcement was first made in mid-January.
On March 1st a transition team from Wheeling Island and Delaware North’s corporate office started operating Mardi Gras in collaboration with the Kanawha County casino’s current staff. “Our immediate priority is to take care of the employee base and make the transition to new ownership as smooth as possible. Everyone who was interested in making the transition was brought over, including the existing management team,” Kim Florence, president and general manager of Wheeling Island, said earlier this week.
According to Florence, Delaware North will keep the casino’s name, as well as the casino’s Players Club. The company also plans to update the Kanawha County casino’s array of 850 slot machines with new ones.
“I think Delaware North will do good things with Mardi Gras Resort,” said Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper. “I think their ownership is the best possible outcome for the casino, its employees, and the county.”
