Malaysia plans stricter rules against illegal gaming

The government would establish a special entity to control the gaming industry.

Malaysia.- As the national political parties accused the Malaysian government of not doing enough to stop the illegal gambling services in the country, the Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has responded. The government would also be considering the creation of a special entity to fight unauthorised gaming operators.

Yesterday, Dr. Hamidi told the press that the government is taking care of the issue and warned its opponent for making “false accusations.” “If you have credible information on those irresponsible people, tell me about them,” he stated. “These gambling activities, they can be very slick. Do not simply accuse officers or authorities of turning a blind eye and allowing such vice activities to go on.”

Furthermore, Kuala Selangor Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim commented that the Malaysian government needs a special commission in charge of addressing gaming industry activities, as well as the legal fight against illegal operators.
