JOCS S.A. wins Andorran casino licence
Novomatic’s business partner has been officially announced as the winner of the licence to develop a casino project in Andorra la Vella.
Andorra.- Andorra la Vella’s first casino licence has been finally given to JOCS S.A., which will develop the first gaming venue in the capital city. The result benefits Novomatic as well, since it is the winning company’s technological partner and will help establish the casino project.
JOCS S.A. had filed two offers: one for 11 million euros in Caldea, and a 16 million euros offer for Prat de la Creu, which is expected to be the one developed. The project includes a six storey development which is expected to generate 12 million euros and bring in over 190,000 visitors on a yearly basis.
Despite Genting being favourites after proposing a 140 million project, it was disqualified since it reportedly was unable to prove it had secured the land to develop it. However, the Malaysian group can still challenge the decision so its 20-storey proposition hasn’t been ruled out just yet.
The licence will give JOCS S.A. the chance to run the venue under the legislation passed in 2016, which regulates the casino market. Therefore, it will be able to hold on to the licence up to 20 years, depending on the investment made at the project.
