Italy lottery sales restart post-lockdown
Some lottery sales have restarted as Italy eases lockdown measures and sets a date for betting shops to reopen.
Italy.- Italy has allowed sales of some lottery tickets to restart as the country gradually eases lockdown measures.
The country has also set a date for betting shops to reopen.
Italy was one of the first European countries to be severely hit by the Covid-19 outbreak. It introduced a strict nationwide lockdown on March 9.
This week tobacconists have resumed selling some numerical draw lottery products.
From next Monday (May 4), Italy will allow the sale of other lottery products that need verification by shop staff to restart.
The timetable published by Italy’s Customs and Monopoly Agency will allow shops that offer sports betting to reopen the following week, on May 11.
Shops will have to turn off television monitors and encourage customers to stay no longer than necessary on premises.
