Iran strengthen barriers against sports betting
Iran’s Football Federation and the Interpol will work on sports betting websites ban.
Iran.- Mohammad Hossein Hamisi, security head of Iran’s Football Federation, announced that the entity has request FIFA –International Federation of Football Association– and Interpol to end illegal sports betting offerings in Iran.
Sports betting and other gaming activities are banned in the Asian country, although internet has helped international operators to extend their services among Iranians players. The majority of sports betting offerings in Iran are operated from East Asian countries.
“We have been monitoring their activities for more than a year and a half and arrested a large number of these people last year with the help of the Islamic Republic’s Law Enforcement,” explained Hamisi. And he revealed that the Iran’s Cyber Police (known as FATA) and intelligence services have offered help for identification of sports betting sites.
