Indian cruise ships could add casinos
The high-level touristic adventure would be boosted with new casinos salons.
India.- The India Cruise Lines Association (INCLA), an Indian company that operates touristic cruise services, demanded the national government allow casino operations inside the luxury cruises. India has a strict prohibition on gaming, with only a few offshore casinos in the State of Goa.
However, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar confirmed that starting from 2019 native Goans would be banned from entering casinos. This comes after the state government appointed a gaming commissioner to regulate the industry.
According to a local newspaper, INCLA made the recommendations in a whitepaper during a Global Cruise Conclave held in Mumbai, which was handed to Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport, Highways, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Nitin Gadkari.
Meanwhile, a representative from the Indian government, Gadkari, one of the senior BJP leaders in the country, has opposed the idea of having casinos in India. “We oppose things like casinos, and I will not give permission for that. People will also not tolerate such things,” Gadkari told the media.
