Gila River breaks ground on new casino in Arizona
Santan Mountain will open within the next two years.
US.- The Gila River Indian Community (GRIC) has broken ground on a new casino south of Chandler, Arizona. The project, named Santan Mountain, will be GRIC’s fourth casino. It was approved through the state’s reinstated and amended gaming compact in May.
The 160-acre, $150m project will feature more than 850 slots and table games, a BetMGM Sportsbook and multiple dining options. Games will include mini-baccarat, craps, roulette. There will also be a High Limit Gaming Salon.
The sportsbook will feature multiple TVs so guests can have a drink and bet on live sports. A hotel may be added down the line. The Steelman Partners-designed site is expected to open within 1.5 to 2 years and to create over 650 new jobs.
Steelman Partners said: “The comfort of Gila River’s guests is a top priority. Whether a guest is playing the slots during the day or playing at a high-energy, live table at night, Santan Mountain design elements will provide a striking, serene backdrop for memorable entertainment.”
Gila River Indian Community Governor Stephen Roe Lewis said: “Not only will Santan Mountain bring additional revenue, sustainability and critical services to our community members, it will elevate our prestige in the gaming and hospitality industry as we continue to craft an entertainment dynasty.”
