New gambling ombudsman proposed in the UK

Deputy leader for the Labour party Tom Watson proposed to set up a new gambling ombudsman in the UK to protect consumers.

UK.- After potential predatory practices worried the authorities, changes may come in the UK. Labour deputy leader Tom Watson proposed to set up a new gambling ombudsman to protect consumers.

Watson will unveil a plan to reorganise betting regulation through a new Gambling Act. According to Labour, it would help bring down problem gambling rates.

As detailed by Watson, the new gambling ombudsman in the UK would form part of a tripartite system. It would be comprised of the Gambling Commission and the NHS, which would target problem gambling.

“I cannot think of a single other type of transactional arrangement for goods or financial services that would allow this type of situation. Unclear terms and conditions, a lack of transparency, a lack of framework – and fuelled by predatory bonus offers,” Watson considers.
