FanDuel brings online sports betting to Indiana
FanDuel has announced the launch of online sports betting in Indiana through its sportsbook app.
US.- FanDuel Group announced on Tuesday the launch of online sports betting in Indiana, the fourth state where the company has an online sportsbook and mobile platform in the US. The launch is the product of a partnership with Boyd Gaming and its Blue Chip Casino Hotel and Spa.
The launch of online sports betting in Indiana happens after the company opened four retail locations in the region at four Boyd properties. These include Blue Chip Casino Hotel and Spa in Michigan City, Indiana; Belterra Casino Resort in Florence, Indiana; Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque, Iowa; Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, Iowa.
Mike Raffensperger, CMO of FanDuel Group, said that the launch is part of the momentum at their Indiana retail sportsbooks and bringing their online sports betting platform to the state is the natural next step for FanDuel. “Now all sports fans in Indiana can see for themselves why we’re the number one online sportsbook in the country.”
Indiana totals US$34.5 million in sports betting’s first full month
The Indiana Gaming Commission has released the financial report from September operations, which recorded the first full month of sports betting activity in the state. The data shows that sports fans bet more than US$34.5 million in September.
Football was the biggest sport in the state in September, accounting more than US$20.7 million. That figure represents 60% of the money wagered on sports during last month’s operations. Besides football, wagers on the outcome of other sports totalled 28% of the market, followed by baseball’s 10% and basketball’s 2% of the sports betting market in September.
Handle in Indiana totalled US$35.2 million, which is higher than what retail sportsbooks generated in August (US$25.8 million). It is also four times higher than what Iowa reported last month.
