Dorota Gruszka, marketing manager at Booming Games, discusses with Focus Gaming News her remarkable journey in the gaming industry.

Exclusive interview.- From her beginnings as a game presenter to Top 5 Gaming Idol, Dorota Gruszka’s growth within the igaming industry has been impressive.

In this exclusive interview with Focus Gaming News, Dorota details what that journey was like, the challenges she faced, how she used her background in Art and Design to take on new challenges and what she enjoys most about working in the industry as a marketing manager at Booming Games.

Your progression through the industry is nothing short of incredible. Can you talk us through your progress so far?

Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s been quite a journey, to be honest. I started in the igaming industry more than seven years ago as a live game presenter. Working hard and staying dedicated to the job paid off, and I eventually got promoted to a shift manager position in the online casino. While I enjoyed the casino atmosphere, my background in Art and Design left me wanting more diverse challenges.

In 2020, a very good friend of mine, Katarzyna Pysz, opened the door to the marketing field, and that’s when I really started to explore new horizons. I’ve been working with different companies, on both the operator and provider side, to learn and develop as much as possible. And all of this eventually led me to my current role as a marketing manager at Booming Games, which I absolutely love!

What did you learn during your time as a game presenter that has helped in the other roles you have had since?

Working as a live game presenter was quite challenging due to shift work, which varies, customer interaction, and performance pressure while following the proper procedures and compliance. I truly admire those who do it, especially in land-based casinos, where they must deal with clients face to face.

In the online environment, we have a protective shield. I’ve learned from this experience how to stay calm and humble. With live chats available, I faced some uncomfortable situations, like dealing with verbal abuse and inappropriate comments. I had to learn to let those things slide, maintain my composure, keep a smile, and deliver the best performance. All of this taught me valuable skills, including handling pressure and managing uncomfortable conversations gracefully.

Most of all, I`ve acquired a deep understanding of player psychology and behavioural patterns, significantly aiding my marketing efforts.

How have you adapted to the different requirements of the roles you have held?

I’ve always enjoyed learning, even from when I was a kid. Absorbing new information has never been a struggle, and I’ve always found it exciting. Plus, I’m a people person—I love meeting new folks and making friends. So, every time I switched roles or environments, I looked forward to it and adapted easily.

Thanks to my background in Art and Design, I’ve made a significant impact in the marketing field. I quickly understood the industry’s expectations and challenged them with creative, out-of-the-box solutions. Being naturally creative has proven highly beneficial in my endeavours.

I believe part of this adaptability comes from being lucky enough to meet many knowledgeable and kind people along the way who took the time and patience to teach me new things. I’m truly thankful for these connections, and many of them have also turned into close friendships.

What is the best thing about working in this industry?

The best part about working in the igaming industry is the industry’s dynamic and ever-evolving nature. It offers exciting opportunities for creativity and innovation. It’s often fast-paced and competitive, which can be both challenging and rewarding.

Also, the people in the igaming world are amazing—smart, dedicated, and easy-going. I really enjoy the conversations I have with individuals I meet randomly, and I’m often pleasantly surprised by how much I learn during our short chats. I genuinely appreciate this industry for its diversity and uniqueness.

What does it mean to be considered a Top 5 Gaming Idol?

Being considered a Top 5 Gaming Idol is a huge honour, and I’m incredibly grateful for it! It means that all the hard work, dedication, and pushing of boundaries I’ve put into my job have been recognized, not just by my management but by the whole industry. I really worked tirelessly for this acknowledgement, often using my personal time to be part of various projects.

I’m a passionate person, and I genuinely love what I do, so going that extra mile wasn’t a sacrifice but a pleasure for me.

The awards ceremony is coming up on November 30th, so I’d appreciate it if you could keep your fingers crossed for me! 🙂
