Connecticut casinos experience revenue fall

The casinos reported year-over-year declines in slot machine revenue in July.

US.- The two casinos in Connecticut reported their financial results regarding their July operations, which show that they both experienced a decrease in slot-machine revenue year-over-year.

Mohegan Sun reported US$55 million after paying out prizes, a 1.5 per cent decrease when compared to the US$55.9 million it registered in 2017. Foxwoods Resort Casino’s slot revenue also fell 4.9 per cent during last month’s operations to US$42.8 million, approximately US$2.2 million less than the US$45 million total from the last month in 2017.

Moreover, Mohegan Sun’s handle in July reached the US$664.1 million mark, but still represents a decrease of less than one per cent, while Foxwoods’ was US$534.4 million, down 6.7 per cent.

In fiscal 2017/2018, ended June 30th, the casinos paid US$272.2 million combined to the state, up from the US$270.7 million from fiscal 2016/2017. The number is still considerably lower than the peak reached in fiscal 2007 when the casinos paid US$430.5 million.
