Casino revenue up in Pennsylvania during August

Despite gross revenue being slightly down, total gaming revenue in the state’s casinos was up 2.8% year-on-year during August.

US.- This year, Pennsylvania became one of the first states to legalise sports betting after the Supreme Court revoked PASPA and those casino operators who still haven’t done so, are eager to get their hands on the segment’s revenue. It seems to be much needed as their revenue figures for August showed a 2.8% increase year-on-year, overcoming gross revenue’s negative results.

According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) the state’s 12 casino operators posted combined gaming revenue of US$275 million last month, just behind July’s US$277.4 million.

August table games revenue stood at US$73,281,370 last month, posting a decrease of 1.3% over the same month of last year when revenue was US$74,269,815.

Table revenue was the main reason for the decline as it went down 6.2% year-on-year to US$74.6 million. It was led by Sands, with US$18.6m (down 6.35%), as Parx came in second with a 8.39% increase to US$17.3 million. SugarHouse finished third as it reached US$10 million, up 11.4% from last year.

Total tax revenue from table games play during August was US$$11,774,566, with an average of 1,275 tables in operation statewide on a daily basis.
