Casino at Ocean Downs to offer table games

Casino officials said that table games could come to the Casino at Ocean Downs before the end of the year.

US.- Officials from Casino at Ocean Downs confirmed this week that the facility could offer table games before the end of 2017. The facility is going through a 35,000-square-foot expansion in order to make room for table games.

Whilst the original plan was to open in 2011 with table games, the process has been pushed back several years. Casino at Ocean Downs is currently the only gambling facility in Maryland that doesn’t offer some type of table games. However, the casino has operated 800 video gaming machines that include simulated video table games like blackjack and roulette.

Bobbi Sample, general manager at Casino at Ocean Downs said that the plan is to finish the expansion by the end of the year and the first cards to be dealt before New Year’s Eve. “Construction of the expansion is moving forward. Our goal is to open the expansion and table games by New Year’s Eve this year.”

In order to operate the table games, the casino is in the process of hiring dealers: “The job fair is actually to recruit students for our new dealer school. This enables us to offer these classes tuition-free to those interested in learning how to be a dealer. When students successfully complete a class in blackjack, they will have the opportunity to audition to become a dealer here at Ocean Downs. They will continue their education at the school and learn how to deal other games and expand their opportunities.”
