Five different city locations have been flagged for the new resort, but Bristol is Hard Rock’s preferred destination.
US.- Hard Rock International is the only candidate that has thrown its hat into the ring to construct a casino resort in Bristol, Virginia.
Five different city locations have been flagged for the new resort, but Bristol is Hard Rock’s preferred destination.
Legislation permitting the construction of a casino in Virginia was only passed in March.
Bristol issued a request for information (RFI) on April 15th, but received just one application from Hard Rock.
Candidates wishing to partner with city officials in the development of a casino had until May 8 to submit the requested information.
Other Virginia cities hoping to win the rights to the casino resort include Danville, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Richmond.
City officials in Bristol will not make an official announcement regarding their choice of casino developer until May 26.
If given the casino license, Hard Rock will look to build a full-scale hotel and casino at the vacant Bristol Mall.
It’s estimated to attract more than 4 million visitors annually, most of whom will be from out of state.
