BC Lottery Corp considering two new casinos
The BC Lottery Corporation is seeking to build two new casinos: one in South of Fraser and another one on the North Shore.
Canada.- The BC Lottery Corporation has announced its intentions of building two new casinos in the province: one in South of Fraser and another one on the North Shore.
Angela Koulyras, BCLC spokesperson said that enough time has passed since Surrey, where then-mayor Dianne Watts casted the deciding vote, rejecting a casino proposal widely opposed by the community.
BCLC estimates a casino South of the Fraser would generate between CAD25 million (US$19 million) to CAD50 million (US$38 million), of which between CAD1.5 million (US$1.14 million) CAD3 million (US$2.29 million) would flow to the local government. The BCLC is also looking to build a gaming facility on the North Shore.
“Three years have gone by since we were out in that market. A lot has changed. The population has continued to grow. We have continued to monitor the marketplace, and we are still seeing significant opportunity there for us to better serve our customers,” said Koulyras. “We are still seeing that there is a market potential that is not being captured in that region.”
