Bangladesh declares gambling illegal
The High Court of Bangladesh declared gambling illegal at clubs all across the country and ordered to seize any industry-related equipment.
Bangladesh.- The gaming industry has proven to be a huge generator of revenue for state coffers. However, Bangladesh has declared gambling illegal, apparently ignoring the market’s potential.
The decision comes from the High Court, which ruled against 13 upscale clubs. The venues are distributed across the country and triggered the gambling segment to go illegal.
Back in December, the High Court already ordered to stop card and dice games at said clubs. After several claims from both ends, they finally decided to turn gambling illegal.
After this decision, they will miss on perks from the gaming segment while the illegal side of it will remain operating in the shadows. That would turn no money into state coffers and allow no control over its funds.
