Baha Mar could be delayed again
The completion on Bahar Mar is in jeopardy as the construction company said that the deadline could be missed.
Bahamas.- China Construction Company (CCA) revealed that they could miss another deadline as the company’s supplier still holds 50 percent of the project’s lounge chairs. An ex official urged the government to investigate the issue and called the delay an insult.
“It’s a heck of a stretch for a $4.2 billion project to be held up by a couple of lounge chairs. There’s something wrong with that. It doesn’t compute. That’s such a nominal amount,” said Stephen Wrinkle, a former Bahamian Contractors Association (BCA) president, as Tribune242 revealed. Minister of Tourism Dionsio D’Aguilar agreed and said that whilst he hasn’t had any recent contact with foreign contractors, a delay of a billion project over 1420 lounge chairs is very odd. He also declared that he will investigate in order to confirm if the opening date is still on track.
“It’s an insult to say it’s holding that project up. You can go down to CostCo and buy them. How can 1,400 lounge chairs hold up a $4.2 billion project? There’s obviously more than meets the eye to this, and China Construction America (CCA) has a history of not meeting their deadlines,” Wrinkle insisted.
