ASA bans gambling ad
The ASA has banned another gambling ad which promoted a welcome bonus and showed on Google searches for “how to unsubscribe from all gambling.”
UK.- The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has struck a Casumo ad down. The ASA hit a gambling ad that promoted a welcome bonus and showed on Google searches to unsubscribe from gaming.
The regulator found the Google search in April, but Casumo quickly defended itself. The company argues it has a list of terms to prevent such results, but not those in particular. They say the word “unsubscribe” relates to mailing rather than gambling as a whole.
“Because we considered there was a strong possibility vulnerable consumers seeking to prevent exposure to gambling ads and access to gambling websites might have been served a gambling ad following a search for ‘how to unsubscribe from all gambling,’ we concluded the ad had not been responsibly targeted,” the ASA said.
Recent bans
Gambling advertising is continuously in the crossfire of the authorities all around the world. That’s why the ASA recently banned ads from Coral Interactive and BetIndex.
The regulator considered both companies promoted irresponsible gambling with their ads.
The ASA punished Coral over its “Bet and Get Club,” which promoted free bets from larger wagers in the previous week. “Free £5 bet every Sunday when you bet £25+ Monday to Saturday,” the ad said.
