Twin River tries to add self-service kiosks
The Rhode Island facility wants to add sports betting self-service kiosks in time for March Madness.
US.- March Madness is one of the most relevant sports events in the United States, as the NCAA basketball tournament gathers a number of universities all across the country and therefore fans from all regions. Twin River Casino wants to take advantage of those benefits and add self-service kiosks for sports betting in time for the start of the tournament.
The Rhode Island Department of Revenue revealed that testing is on schedule and hoping to be up and running this week. Twin River said that it is adding 17 kiosks to its Lincoln location and five in Tiverton, which would significantly reduce lines at ticket windows.
Rhode Island is currently the only New England state to offer sports betting and is on its way to becoming the first to also offer mobile sports betting because the General Assembly approved a bill last week that would allow the state to do so. The bill was sent to the Governor’s desk to turn it into law. The bill allows the creation of an app that people could use to access the sports betting offerings at the Twin River facilities, but anyone who wishes to place a bet must be physically present in Rhode Island.
