Tioga Downs could be open this month

The Binghamton casino was the last of the four upstate casinos to get a license.

US.- Owner of Tioga Downs, Jeff Gural, confirmed that the facility is physically completed. Rural said that they only need necessary personnel licenses from the state Commission, since they already finished the shipment of slot machines and card tables.

Last week the state Gaming Commission approved the regulations that will take effect later this month. The new regulations include everything related to gaming, from the design of receptacles for played cards, to security measures that include bullet-ptoof glass where workers count the cash they’ve taken in.

Gural first asked for a casino license back in 2014, but a special siting committee said that issuing only three of the four licenses would be a better idea. They thought that including four would “saturate the market,” and potentially “cannibalise” business from the existing racinos from the state. The other three casinos are being constructed from zero, whilst Tioga Downs has its own foundation.
