Swedish regulator launches new tender

The Swedish gambling regulator has launched a tender for a company to overlook operators’ applications and related information.

Sweden.- The recent regulation update in Sweden has brought the online industry to the country. However, the Swedish regulator wants to land a partner to provide verification services related to operators.

The local body has launched a tender for a company to provide verification services on online gaming companies. The winner would look into applicants for new licences and licence holders as well if required.

The service provider would assess group structure, company information and ownership image. That includes the composition of boards, senior executives and the applicant’s physical addresses.

The new market

Sweden debuted its newly-regulated gambling market on January 1, introducing major changes for the local industry, such as the rebrand of the local regulator and the introduction of new iGaming companies.

AhaWorld, White Hat Gaming and Hero Gaming have all received online casino licences on December 27. They brought the total number of companies that debuted the market on the first day of the year to 60.

GVC is one of the companies that has rolled out its products with the re-regulation: “We are delighted to get the year off to a positive start with the launch of bwin.se and partypoker.se,” said Shay Segev, chief operating officer of GVC.
