Svenska Spel revamps lottery and gaming commission model
The Swedish state-owned operator has introduced changes in a bid to keep its retail lottery and gaming products competitive.
Sweden.- Svenska Spel has made the first changes to its sales commission model for lottery and gaming agents in 30 years as it attempts to keep its retail products competitive.
The state-owned monopoly said it was making the changes due to increased competition in Sweden’s gambling market following the entry of 100 licensed companies after new regulation opened up the market in 2019.
As of this month, Svenska Spel has increased its percentage sales commission for retail games and lottery tickets. It will also offer an incentive to retail agents in the form of an increased percentage fee for new customers.
However, it will no longer compensate retail agents for player winnings on lottery and gaming. It has also terminated its bonus reward for its Saturday main draws.
Director of retail Tove Kandell said: “Svenska Spel is the entire Swedish people’s gaming company and we need to ensure that our business is competitive. Therefore, we are pleased that we have been able to develop a commission model that means an improvement for both us and our agents.”
