State-run Svenska Spel is introducing the use of International Game Technology (IGT) cashless gaming technology at its venues across Sweden.

Sweden.- Svenska Spel has entered an arrangement with International Game Technology (IGT) to introduce its IGTPay cashless gaming technology to enable consumers that play on video lottery terminals (VLTs) to deposit funds from their mobile phones.

Svenska Spel has rolled out IGT’s Intelligent VLT software and Quasar VLTs, allowing players to register and log into machines, and fund play using Swedish banking and identification solution BankID.

Players can also make withdrawals via IGTPay, with Svenska Spel able to return available funds directly to the player’s bank account when a withdrawal request is made.

Svenska Spel Director of VLT operations, Magnus Lannersund, said: “Launching IGT’s cashless product provides our players with a reliable, cutting-edge cashless solution that connects directly with the Swish mobile app, helping us drive efficiencies while responsibly advancing the player experience.”

Ryan Reddy, Vice President of Systems and Payments Products at IGT, said: “As the relevance of cashless and contactless gaming innovations continues to grow, technologies such as IGT Intelligen with IGTPay become critical components of the player experience, and solutions that can bring tremendous value to our global customers.

“We have established a dedicated payments team to ensure that customers such as Svenska Spel are equipped with IGT solutions and services that deliver modern payment options that align with consumer expectations and future business opportunities.”

Svenska Spel last month reported stable results for the first quarter of the year.
