Suncity Group pushes for Osaka IR

Casino junket backer Suncity Group wants to land an Osaka IR and has announced a partnership with architecture firm Aedas to plan for it.

Japan.- The casino industry will soon arrive in Japan. That’s why Suncity Group is pushing to develop an Osaka IR should the region gets its own. For that matter, it announced a partnership with international architecture firm Aedas.

“Suncity Group hopes to create (in Osaka) the world’s first IR 2.0,” they explained. “A unique project combining Wakayama prefecture’s historical tradition, natural landscape and cultural essence.”

“Suncity Group has a clear understanding of IRs in various countries,” they highlighted. “(It) enables the group to utilise its resources and experiences in resorts management and present to the world the diversity of Wakayama.”

Galaxy targets Osaka as well

Galaxy Entertainment is pushing for an Osaka IR and is ready to compete with MGM Resorts for it. The company made its local pitch for the project during a press event in the city.

Galaxy detailed several points for its Osaka IR, including that it would be a long-term investment. They also stated that only a few competitors can match their financial resources.

Casino committee

Japan keeps moving its casino industry forward, not only by trying to create a proper regulatory framework but also by preparing the necessary committees to launch the market. On Friday, the government adopted an ordinance to create a management committee to supervise casino operators in Japan.
