A slot machine features gambling addiction system

Massachusetts is testing the first slot machine with a feature meant to curb gambling addiction by letting patrons limit their betting.

US.- The first slot machine in the US with a system to curb gambling addiction by letting players limit their betting is being tested in Plainridge Park in Plainville, the first Massachusetts’ casino.

According to Stephen Crosby, Massachusetts Gaming Commission Chairman the “Play My Way” system will be required on future casino developments if it works as expected.

The system allows casino patrons to set up daily, weekly or monthly betting limits and to receive notifications when they approach 50, 75 percent and 100 percent of the limit. However, they’ll never be cut off and the limits can be adjusted.

The American Gaming Association is more skeptic as it says that the technology hasn’t proved effective in casinos in Singapore, Norway, Canada and elsewhere that have tried it.
