Sky Bet against Labour’s gambling ads plan

The CEO of the company is against the party’s attempt to block gambling ads during live sporting events.

UK.- Richard Flint, CEO of Sky Betting and Gaming (Sky Bet), has voiced his opposition to the Labour Party’s plan to ban gambling advertising during live sporting events. The executive believes that a ban would alienate operators interested in the UK market.

Flint said that the initiative would leave more customers vulnerable to untrustworthy operators, and would also discourage potential new businesses in the local market. “We’ll study the advertising proposals carefully, but think any type of blanket ban removes a key incentive for operators to get a UK gambling licence and therefore could leave UK customers more vulnerable to disreputable operators,” he said.

The CEO added that the company’s data on credit cards suggests that “it is those customers with multiple cards that are at greater risk of harm” and therefore they believe attention should be placed on that rather than a complete ban.
