Rota Island resort filed lawsuit against gaming commission

The resort filed a lawsuit against the commission for unfairly cancelling their casino license.

US.- According to a report from Saipan Tribune, the owner of Rota Resort and Country Club, SNM Corp, the Rota Casino Gaming Commission held a meeting without noticing the company or the public. Hee Kyun Choo, president of SNM Corp, asked the Superior Court to stop the commission from holding meetings or taking further actions related to the company in violation of the Commonwealth Code.

Earlier this month, SNM received a notification issued by the commission that stated that the license expired since the company received it more than five years ago and “there is still no evidence that anything is being done” to proceed with the development.

The resolution passed by the commission stated that the license issued on July 2011 expired four years later, on July 2016. On the other hand, the company said that the full payment of the license fee finished on 2013, so the license should not expire until 2018.
