US.-The Upstate New York casino market had high expectations before the opening of its four facilities. A few months after, analysts saw that their estimations were too high, as the casinos never met the expectations. However, Rivers Casino & Resort showed positive results in March 2019 and posted its best month ever to date.
The Schenectady facility revealed that guests dropped US$126 million into its slot machines in March. This was 25% higher than the monthly average for 2018-29 so far, and helped the casino get higher revenue and tax payments.
Gross gaming revenue (GGR) increased 11.5% from US$140.9 million in fiscal 2017-2018 to US$157.1 million in 2018-2019. Furthermore, Rivers paid US$53.3 million in gaming tax, approximately 16% more than in 2017-2018. All these results contributed to Rivers Casino to post its best month to date.
Moreover, GGR from the 16 poker tables featured at the facility was US$5.4 million. March 2019 was Rivers’ best month ever, with US$15.9 million in GGR, 24.5% more than the average in the previous 11 months.
