Rhode Island sports betting revenue reaches $36.2m
Sports betting revenue in Rhode Island for the last financial year nearly doubled the previous, reaching $36.2m.
US.- Revenue for sports betting in Rhode Island for the 12 months to June 2021 reached $36.2m, nearly doubling the $18.7m in revenue generated in the previous financial year, which was affected by Covid-19-related closures.
Operators generated $18.3m of the total online. Retail operators didn’t open until May 2021, but still raked $17.9m. Consumers bet $353m, up 76.3 per cent from the previous year. Most of that ($184.6m) was wagered online, with land-based wagers reaching $168.4m.
In retail, Twin River posted $11.7m in revenue with a handle of $118.9m. Tiverton casino posted $6.2m from $49.5m in wagers.
June 2021‘s revenue was the highest since March at $3.7m from a handle of $29.5m. Retail beat online, with land-based operations reaching $2m in revenue from a $14.8m handle, while igaming saw $1.7m from a handle of $14.6m.
