Oregon Lottery moves towards mobile betting
The lottery insists on a move that would expand gaming in the state through mobile betting.
US.- The Oregon Lottery is pursuing two initiatives that would change how gambling is done in the state. While it would allow the gambling expansion through mobile betting, the state also wants to offer sports betting.
Justin Martin, a lobbyist for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, which has the largest gambling facility in the state, Spirit Mountain, said that the initiatives are moving pretty quickly. The lottery wants to open its business to the mobile world, which is expected to expand the audience and the accessibility.
It is believed that the app could debut as soon as next month, Lottery Post reported. If it gets done, it would mean the biggest gambling expansion since 2005, when the state added slot machines. “We want to expand in a way that makes sense and doesn’t hurt what we’re already doing,” said Shelby.
“A portion of the Oregon gaming market is not attracted to the games in our current portfolio,” wrote the lottery’s chief gaming officer, Farshad Allahdadi. “Game attributes that we are missing include social, competitive, and mobile/cashless convenience.”
