Oklahoma discusses new gambling options

Ball and dice games and even sports betting are being studied in Oklahoma and are one of the main topics at OIGA 2018.

US.- The Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association (OIGA) Conference and Tradeshow 2018 is scheduled to end today but leaves much to discuss regarding gambling in the Sooner State. Among the main topics at the show was the approval of ball and dice games (like roulette) at local casinos and even the potential sports betting legalisation.

“You don’t have to leave Oklahoma to get the full casino experience,” Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association general counsel Dean Luthey said and added: “We’ve encouraged the member tribes to use this time to adopt appropriate technical standards and surveillance to ensure the games were fair.”

Ball and dice games were approved by the General Assembly but the bill hasn’t come into effect as it needs approval by the federal government, which is expected to happen by October.

David Qualls, with OIGA said he was “surprised” by the “monumental discussion” around sports betting and said: “Sports betting is going to have a large impact on gaming jurisdictions all over the nation.” Furthermore, even as it’s up to lawmakers to legalise it, gaming officials are said to be working around the segment’s regulation and could submit a proposal soon.
