NY accepted DFS settlement
Yesterday, New York reached an agreement with DraftKings and FanDuel.
US.- Yesterday, the settlement between the State of New York and major daily fantasy sports operators, DraftKings and FanDuel, was near to close in US$8 million or US$12 million. Later that day, the authorities of every entity defined the agreement in US$6 million, ending the legal investigation for fraud.
DraftKings and FanDuel, which currently operate licensed daily fantasy sports thanks to recent legalisation in New York, closed the settlement for seeming false advertising and consumer fraud. New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman approved yesterday the payment agreement with both companies to cover the penalties and costs of the case.
“We are pleased to move forward and as our business continues to grow,” a DraftKings spokesperson said in a statement. And FanDuel representatives added: “The negotiations were tough but fair, but we are very pleased to have reached a resolution.” The State’s general attorney concluded by saying that the settlements “make it clear that no company has a right to deceive New Yorkers for its own profit.”
